• STIHL M-Tronic™ – This product features M-Tronic™ (M), a new generation of Intelligent Engine Management that eliminates the low and high speed carburetor adjustment screws, compensates for dirty air filters, and adjusts to changes in elevation and fuel quality for optimum engine power at all times.
• STIHL ElastoStart™ – The ElastoStart™ starter handle is an exclusive feature of STIHL®. It is a starting grip with a built-in shock absorber that helps reduce the effort when pulling on the starter cord. The ElastoStart™ grip noticeably reduces the sudden peak forces (compression) normally felt during cranking. These forces are smoothed out after the first compression stroke.
• IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor – The IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor is designed to automatically adjust the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or partially clogged, maintaining the engine’s correct RPM. IntelliCarb™ uses air from the clean side of the air filter to control the diaphragm and fuel flow. As the filter becomes dirty and less air is available, the system compensates to maintain performance. This contrasts with typical carburetors that use air from the “dirty” side of the air box.
• STIHL Quickstop® – STIHL® chainsaws are equipped with a chain stopping system called the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake, designed to reduce the risk of injury in certain kickback situations. It is activated either by the operator’s hand or by inertia and stops the chain within fractions of a second.
• Bumper Spikes – These spikes prevent pull-in and provide better control, making cutting easier.
• Decompression Valve – The decompression valve, also referred to as a 'deco' or 'deco valve', vents cylinder compression for easier starting. It temporarily reduces combustion chamber pressure during cranking and closes automatically once the engine fires.
• Pre-Separation Air Filtration System – This system improves engine filter efficiency and doubles the time between cleanings. Air is separated using centrifugal force, ejecting heavier debris before it reaches the air filter—resulting in less frequent maintenance.
• Side-Access Chain Tensioner – Allows for more convenient saw chain adjustments using a bar wrench, as opposed to traditional front-mounted tensioners.
• Master Control Lever™ – The Master Control Lever™ is a single, easy-to-use lever that operates the choke, starting throttle lock, and on-off switch. The operator must engage the throttle trigger before moving the Master Control Lever™ to the choke position.
• Anti-Vibration System – STIHL® has developed this system to reduce vibration levels in handheld tools, decreasing operator fatigue and improving comfort.
• Toolless Fuel and Oil Caps with Retainers – These caps can be removed or tightened by simply lifting the lever and twisting—no tools required.
